Singer María Magnúsdóttir and her band will take listeners on a world music journey through Latin America.
María spent time in Argentina as an exchange student, where she learned Spanish and became deeply immersed in the country’s musical traditions. There was no turning back after that, and ever since, she has been especially captivated by the great queens of folk and popular music from Central and South America.
The band pays tribute to legendary singers such as Mercedes Sosa, Argentina’s most revered folk singer; Omara Portuondo, who rose to international fame with Buena Vista Social Club; Susana Baca from Peru; Astrud Gilberto from Brazil; and many others.
