The Andrés Þór Trio has been active since 2021 and consists of three instrumentalists who have each played an influential role on the Icelandic music scene and beyond. The trio features guitarist Andrés Þór, French double bassist Nico Moreaux, and drummer Magnús Tryggvason Elíassen. Their music is rooted in the jazz tradition while also characterized by strong compositions, lyrical improvisation, and intimate, vibrant interplay.
The trio released its debut album, Hereby, through the Norwegian record label Losen Records in 2022, where it received excellent reviews. The album features nine original compositions by Andrés and explores the possibilities of the guitar trio format — ranging from spacious Nordic atmospheres to energetic rhythms and harmonic depth. The trio’s next album is scheduled for release through Losen Records in early 2026.
Each member brings a clear and personal musical voice to the group: Andrés with his warm tone and refined phrasing; Nico, known for his lyrical compositions, grounded bass sound, and collaborations with artists such as Tigran Hamasyan and Jorge Rossy; and Magnús, one of Iceland’s most versatile drummers, highly active on the Nordic music scene and a member of bands such as ADHD and Moses Hightower.
