Reykjavík Jazz Festival has been held annually since 1990 and is the second-oldest music festival in Iceland. The festival serves as a platform for the most important developments in Icelandic jazz music and stands as the highlight of the jazz scene in Iceland as well as an annual harvest festival for Icelandic jazz musicians.

The main objective of Reykjavík Jazz Festival is to support and promote jazz music and to offer musicians and jazz audiences an outstanding platform and setting in which they can perform and enjoy the very best of Icelandic and international jazz. In addition, the festival supports Icelandic jazz musicians by facilitating their international exposure through cooperation with key stakeholders in the European jazz scene via the European Jazz Network, of which Reykjavík Jazz Festival has been a member in recent years.
